Planning Project Overview

The Project Management module relates between them information about projects, costs, benefits, availability and proficiency of the participants. It provides all the tools needed to instruct, schedule, manage and control improvement projects in any kind of complex professional environment. This module can be extended thanks to the perfect integration with other Panoptikon modules: Competence Management, Process Improvement, Economics Management. This integration allows to create a "full-optionals" system for every kind of continuous improvement program in every kind of company.

It provides three managerial levels: the Site Project Manager, who is responsible for all project activities of the whole site, the Project Leader, who manages only projects assigned to him, and the Project Member, who participates to some project and can be charged of specific duties regarding a single action.

The first step in the project management activity is to analyze project ideas from a list, determining a ranking according to their Impact, Cost and Easiness (ICE method).

The second step is the scheduling of the project. It requires the definition of a responsible, the Project leader. Workload management tools help the site manager to choose a resource available for the period of the project implementation. When the project is assigned to its leader, he/she can start the project planning phase, choosing project members and defining the complete skillset needed. This allows him selecting members by competence levels, analysing the team overall skillset and eventually planning necessary training actions before starting the project implementation.

All main activities of the project are reported in the Project running feature. The project leader is asked to report main activities conducted, to upload information on results and to declare closed the project when it is fully implemented. The system provides a time control to report any variance between forecasted and actual dates.

Once the project is finished, through the system it is possible to carry out an accurate analysis of the benefits and certify the economic results. After this activity, the site project manager can classify the project to evaluate its promotion as a best practice to be disseminated to other areas of the process.
